This policy only applies to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Health Sciences students during their
enrollment in Health Science Programs (e.g. Allied
Health, Dentistry, Biomedical Graduate Studies, Medicine or Nursing).
It provides a method to manage students who are, or become infected with a blood borne pathogen including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HCV). It describes evidence-based procedures for managing infected students in a way that protects their privacy while providing reasonable precautions to create a safe environment in the academic healthcare setting.

Any Medical College of Georgia student who knows or has reason to believe that he/she has a blood borne pathogen is required to report this information immediately to the Office of Student Health. Failure on the part of a student to report a known blood borne pathogen may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
