Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», the second-largest city in Georgia, is located on the south bank of the Savannah
River midway between the Great Smokey Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a growing
and thriving city with a metropolitan-area population of around 600,000, including
North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and Aiken, SC. It was recently ranked the second most favorable place

Founded in 1736 by General James E. Oglethorpe, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is Georgia’s second-oldest
city. Oglethorpe named the city for Princess Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», wife of the Prince of Wales.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» was Georgia’s capital in 1778 and from 1785 to 1795.

the Fort Gordon Dinner Theater; Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Opera Association, the only resident opera
company in Georgia; the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Ballet, an Honor Company nationally known for its
high-quality performances; the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Players, bringing first-rate plays to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»;
The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Children’s Theatre; The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Symphony; and the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Art Association.
The city of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» offers affordable urban and suburban living options within a 5-15
commute. The cost of living in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is significantly less than in most major metropolitan
areas. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is home to a wide variety of restaurants and a thriving downtown.
In addition, North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», South Carolina (which is located less than 5 minutes from
the center of downtown Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³») is home to the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» GreenJackets, which is a minor
league baseball team affiliated with the Atlanta Braves.
